The European Law Student’s Association (ELSA) informs about the Student Trainee Exchange Programme (STEP). This is an international exchange programme for young attorney-at-laws or law students, which would like to gain more experience in other country than their native one.
The programme has also benefits for the law companies involved, in terms of new ideas coming from other environment through the high qualified young lawyers or students. If the law firm wishes, it may keep the young lawyer as a trainee.
For obtaining a young lawyer as a trainee should be follow few steps, as:
- Set the requirements and timeline for the traineeship;
- Sign the contract with ELSA.
Then, ELSA will promote the traineeship, will do a pre-screening of applicants, providing you high quality applicants and will select the trainee or trainees that meet your requirements.
ELSA was founded in 1981 and now is the largest law students association with approx. 30.000 members (young lawyers and students), which works with 200 universities from 41 countries.
The ELSA partners meaning law firms and institutions as World Trade Organisation - Technical Partner, The World Trade Institute – Sponsor, IELPO – Sponsor, European Commission - Youth in Action Programme etc.) have the possibility to be promoted through ELSA magazine (Synergy) or online on ELSA website.
The magazine is a bi-annual publication, printed in 10.000 copies. More, the partners involved in STEP programme will benefit of:
- Logo and short description of the company in STEP newsletter;
- The company will be included in the list of firms offering traineeship in ELSA’s magazine.
STEP programme is a great opportunity for any law company to get more international experience, new ways to be promoting through ESLA channels as well as ‘fresh’ ideas from the young qualified lawyers.
